Technical Dive

DSAT Tec Rec

These courses are definitely not for everyone and are specifically aimed at experienced divers who wish to dive beyond recreational diving limits – often to increase the time spent underwater, diving on walls and wrecks etc.

PADI Diving Science and Technology (DSAT) program qualifies divers to extend no decompression dives, make gas switches underwater and also complete accelerated decompression dives using enriched air and oxygen to a maximum depth of 50 metres – using technical diving equipment and procedures to manage the risks involved.

DSAT is the technical training branch of PADI and the materials for the courses follow PADI’s excellence. They provide some of the best technical training materials on the market. The course structures are very regimental and require the utmost concentration and dedication, the perfect advancement for those with existing recreational and professional level education. DSAT Gas Blender

More people are diving with enriched air and this means the demand for enriched air fills is also increasing. However, there needs to be someone qualified to administer these fills to meet this demand. This is where the DSAT Gas Blender course comes in. It can result in one of two certifications: DSAT Gas Blender or DSAT Trimix Blender. Being a gas blender has significant advantages to your technical diving at any level, it gives you the confidence and understanding of the mixes you require to execute your dives.

The DSAT Gas Blender course will train you as a qualified gas blender, allowing you to provide gas mixes to appropriately certified consumers. You’ll learn the physical properties of oxygen, its associated hazards, handling requirements and what cleaning equipment is necessary. Finally, you will learn the five methods of obtaining the desired enriched air nitrox mix and the various methods used to obtain proper helium mixes.

Tec 40

The entry point into the technical range provides a transition from recreational to tech. The diver is qualified to complete up to 10 minutes of non-accelerated decompression while breathing from on additional deco cylinder of up to EANx50. Depth is limited to 40m.

Tec 45

The diver now wears the full ‘standardized’ tech rig, plus one additional deco cylinder. The diver is qualified to complete accelerated decompression dives using any mix of EANx or oxygen. Depth limited to 45m.

 Tec 50

This qualification represents a high level of competency for technical diver. The diver is qualified to use air/EANx/oxygen to make extended, accelerated decompression dives. Depth is limited to 50m.

Tec Trimix 65

A new intermediate certification between Tec 50 and Tec Trimix Diver. The diver is qualified to make multistop trimix decompression dive using EANx and oxygen for accelerated decompression. Diver use 18% or more oxygen as a bottom gas. Depth is limited to 65m

Tec Trimix Diver

A Tec Trimix diver is qualified to use air, EANx, oxygen and trimix for multiple stop decompression dives using two or more decompression gases (EANx and/or oxygen) to accelerate or add conservatism to decompression. Depth is limited to 90m.
